HollowPoint Design
Terms of Use
Free to use, including commercially. What you make is yours. It comes with no warranty.
These Terms govern your use of HollowPoint Design (the "Software"), a browser-based map and level editor provided by Hollowpoint Studios ("we", "us"). By using the Software you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use it.
Licence
The Software is currently provided free of charge, in full — every feature available today, including the Advanced tools, is free to use. You are granted a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use it to design, edit, and export your own projects, including commercial ones.
We may introduce paid features or paid versions in future. If we do, they will be clearly identified as paid before you are asked for anything, and these Terms will be updated at that point. Introducing a paid tier will not retroactively affect work you have already created: your existing project files remain yours, remain readable, and are not locked behind a payment.
Your work belongs to you. Maps, levels, layouts, and any other content you create with the Software are entirely yours. We claim no ownership of it, no licence to it, and no royalty on anything you make, publish, or sell with it. We never receive a copy of it in the first place — see the Privacy page.
What you may not do
- Sell or redistribute the Software itself as your own product, or present yourself as its author.
- Remove or obscure authorship, branding, or licensing notices within it.
- Use it to build anything unlawful, or to infringe someone else's rights.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site or its hosting infrastructure, probe or test its security without permission, or interfere with its availability — including through automated request floods. Automated traffic filtering and rate limiting are in place, and access that appears abusive may be blocked.
No warranty
The Software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that it will produce any particular result.
Your projects are stored in your browser, not on a server, and there is no backup. Browser storage can be cleared by your browser or by you — through clearing site data, private browsing, cleanup tools, or the browser reclaiming space — and when that happens the work is gone permanently and cannot be recovered by us or by anyone. Export your work to a file regularly. This is the single most important thing to understand about using this tool.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any claim, damages, lost work, lost profits, data loss, or other liability arising from your use of or inability to use the Software, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise — including where the loss results from browser storage being cleared. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions of liability, in which case those exclusions apply only so far as the law permits.
Availability
The Software is provided with no obligation of support, maintenance, updates, or continued availability, and may be changed or withdrawn at any time. Because it runs entirely in your browser and requires no internet connection once loaded, you can keep a working copy: save the page to your own computer and it will continue to run offline regardless of what happens to this site.
Exports and other engines
The Software exports data intended for use in third-party engines and tools. Those engines are not ours, we do not control them, and we make no warranty that any export will be compatible with any particular version of them. Importer scripts and generated project files may create, overwrite, or modify files inside your projects — back up your work and use version control before running them.
Intellectual property
The Software, its source, its branding, and its documentation are the property of Hollowpoint Studios, except for any third-party components, which remain subject to their own licences. Your own content is excluded from this, as set out above.
Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms. The current version is always the one posted here, and continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of it.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [Your Jurisdiction], without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
